Fellowship in action

From attending to participating

Getting to a meeting is a beginning. Participation gives that meeting a place in your life. Introduce yourself, listen for something you can use, and speak honestly when you are ready. You can ask about a home group, sponsorship, literature, and ways to help.

Recovery connections grow through repeated contact. Arrive a little early or stay afterward. Exchange numbers with permission and make a call between meetings. If one meeting is not a fit, explore another. The next conversation may help you feel less alone.

Put it into practice: At your next meeting, introduce yourself to one person and ask how to stay connected.

Reflect: What is one way I can participate beyond sitting in the room?
